RegistrationProfessional Connections will guide candidates through the professional registration process so that all candidates have their professional registration before starting with the Trust. Pre-screeningProfessional Connections cross matches the skills and experience of candidates to the person specification requirements of the Trust. Once an initial short listing has been carried out, all candidates are interviewed by a registered nurse or midwife by phone to further explore their skills and experience. All NHS Employers have a responsibility to ensure that the staff they recruit are able to communicate in English with patients, so this telephone interview provides an opportunity to assess the English communication skills of the candidate both in conversational English and Medical terminology. However, in addition, all international candidates (non-EU/EEC) are required to obtain Level 7 or above in the IELTS test as part of the NMC registration process. Candidates from the EU/EEC countries are who are not required to obtain Level 7 in the IELTS test as part of the NMC registration process are tested using the Oxford Online Placement Test. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust expects all assessments of English language competence to be completed prior to interview. Interview and SelectionImperial College Healthcare NHS Trust prefers to interview candidates in their own country as part of a dedicated campaign. This enables Trust staff to gain an understanding of the transition successful candidates will be making when they relocate. European nurses will be flown to London for personal interview. RelocationFollowing success at the interview, Professional Connections works closely with candidates to produce supporting documentation and undertake the relevant checks prior to relocating to London. Professional Connections finds and sources appropriate accommodation, and undertakes all liaison with the Trust to ensure that all arrangements, flights and orientation programmes are in place. We meet and greet candidates at the airport and accompany them to the Trust, settling them into their accommodation. The local orientation then commences.
