ITU Nursing Jobs London NHS TrustThe Hospital is a 900 bedded hospital, services include a major accident and emergency service, all branches of surgery and medicine, a renal service serving the whole of north London, paediatrics, maternity services, care of elderly people, an adolescent psychiatric service and one of two high security infectious diseases units in the country. The Intensive Care comprises of 21 level 3 beds and a 3 bedded step down unit .We are expanding our services to incorporate an expansion of Hepato-Biliary services which will increase our level 3 beds capacity significantly. The specialities at the hospital include Neurosurgery, Haematology, Plastic Surgery, Renal Services and an establish liver transplant programme, we have more than 1000 admissions a year. We are committed to developing and supporting a modern career framework for our nurses in Critical Care. We provide a structured supernumerary orientation programme to meet your individual needs. Our staff also have the opportunity to access Kings College London Critical Care pathways. These consist of programmes and clinical awards at levels 5 and 6, which range from a transition course up to an MSc in Critical Care. All staff development and education is facilitated and supported by our Clinical Practice Educators and our Lecturer Practitioner. We wish to hear from nurses based in UK and in Europe. The Hospital is within easy reach of all London’s atractions and amenties as it has excellent transport links, including buses, tube and train.
The Trust is renowned for many specialist services including liver, kidney and bone marrow transplantation, renal, AIDS/HIV, infectious diseases, plastic surgery, immunology, paediatric gastroenterology, ENT surgery and audiological medicine, amyloidosis and scleroderma. Additionally, the trust is a leading cancer centre with a range of specialist diagnostic and treatment services in oncology and haematology and a major neuroscience base with a network extending throughout north London and into the Home Counties. The intensive care unit consists of 21 beds over two levels. All consultants are dedicated intensivists. Nursing care ratio is usually of 1:1 but occasionally 1:2 for lower dependant patients. The unit is high paced with patients from the wide range of services and specialities described above. There is a deep-rooted culture of learning and teaching on the unit. Nursing staff are actively encouraged to attend university courses which include transition course, intensive care nursing course and degree programmes. This is augmented by the unit teaching team, which consists of a nurse consultant, a lecturer practitioner and clinical practice educators. There are plans to expand the intensive care unit by 2010. Accommodation is available to staff either on site or close-by. The rooms/flats offered are clean and modern. The most recent block being opened in 2008.
